Work in Ableton, Logic, DP?? Got any tips or questions for Swedish Columbia artists? Well... post 'em!

I use Reason primarily so that might not be of too much interest.

Do you actually use DP? I had to take a class on it for an Audio Engineering degree and I've never heard much about it since 2003.

For electronic music I use Ableton primarily and sometimes Logic because I find it to be the least latent when recording guitars and certain audio like vocals. When I record non-electronic music its exclusively in Logic because it works the best with my soundcard.

I did some audio recording with DP but never messed with the sequencer. I know Chad Clark from Beauty Pill used the sequencer and midi functionality of DP.

I like Reason a lot, I think the GUI is nice to look at and easy to use. I tried using Max but I generally found it to cumbersome to try and do everything on a C++ platform ,that to begin with I suck at , plus it don't look too pretty.

@SC: Very cool. I have messed around with Logic but I don't record enough audio to purchase such a beast right now. Right now I'm using Audacity and my little Apogee One for audio.

    @SLPRS
: I'm completely hooked on Reason. A couple versions ago I really didn't like the final sound of the music I was making/hearing from it. It always sounded like there was glass in front of it. I don't know how else to explain it. However after discovering ways to get around that I really love it. You can't beat the GUI.

Actaually, Garageband has a new feature thats similar to flextime in logic., timestrech or something... Its real easy to rmx untight music.. just choose the track wich the other tracks should adjust to, the press a star.. easy. And, it sounds surprisingly good. Easy does it. Fruit loops anyone...

Fix easy stuff in GB. Then drag to logic for edits..

  • SwedishColumbiaSwedishColumbia November 2010

Why don't you just do flextime in logic? Is GB better at auto-stretching?

I usually just do Ableton stretching if need be– or Logic.. both are good.

    @ vbm - Fruity Loop … thowback!

    Fave soft-synths anyone?

  • SLPRS November 2010

    Thor, in Reason for sure.

  • theboutonniere November 2010

    +1 for Thor

I'm also into the Korg Legacy M1.

I would love to get some G-Force stuff (impOscar, VSM).

  • SwedishColumbiaSwedishColumbia November 2010

I use the Arturia collection of the Arp, MiniMoog, etc... also dig the G-force MiniMonsta... very stable! I also have a few actual hard-ware synths, a SidStation and a obscure german synth called a NanoZverg! (means tiny dwarf!)
