All music by Itaru Higashida, Vocals by Therese Johansson
Itaru – a drummer and electronic musician from Tokyo, Japan that has been exploring rhythms and electronic music his whole life. Starting with an influence of Japan's Yellow Magic Orchestra that sparked musical exploration with everything from playing in a renown underground punk band, Atomic Fireball, to performing live electronics in Rhetorical Parade as well as solo. His solo material brings to mind an early Warp Records sound with a feel that can only happen when a musician lives in Tokyo his whole life. Itaru's Swedish Columbia debut EP "Afterimages" contains an intricate, beautiful and even a frantic sound that makes this a memorable release of forward-thinking electronic music that transcends trends and is equally a good companion in one's headphones or blasting in a club. Remixers were contacted to flex their heads and the EP is rounded off by great renditions of the track "Afterimages". In particular Outputmessage, known for his breakthrough tracks released early in his career via Ghostly International's "Idol Tryouts" compilations, whom now focuses on club-friendly electro-pop. He was asked to reach back and approach Itaru's track more in his old IDM style and delivered was a crunchy, atmospheric and forward-moving remix to please old and new fans alike. The EP also contains a great house remix by Paris, France's Publique and a surprisingly psychedelic remix by Sweden's Triobelisk with swirling live guitars and analog drums.
