Painter/musician El Huervo (Niklas Åkerblad) oddly started his musical expedition in his youth as a drummer and trumpet player. Well over 15 years ago he began creating electronic music on FastTracker 2 and from there continuing steadily onward. After playing in some bands and focus- ing on painting he finally began to hone his sound and take his compositions more seriously around 2002 after delving into the sounds of DJ Krush and instrumental sample-based music. Amassing well over 100 songs since that time, Niklas fleshes out ideas of where his songs will go while painting or illustrating which is his main line of work. His artwork has adorned galleries and just this past year his art and music was a part of a best-selling iPhone game Kometen. A surreal journey into the creative-mind of Niklas built by indie game genius Erik Svedäng. The tracks "Lovers", "Burn", "Hidden" and "Vagabond" which are featured on said game are also contained on this release along with a collection of yet unreleased tracks.
To Stop You Must Die is a record of constrasting melancholy and beautiful songs. It is a journey about making sense of loss, gaining hope for the future and putting together the puzzle pieces of the human experience and who we are. With deeply personal songs and every title having meaning, this is truly the world of El Huervo (Niklas Åkerblad). A world that mirrors the one we live in.
